I became pregnant with Indie after 2 years on high dose vitamin c, approximately 25 grams every day. When I became pregnant I was unable to stomach more than 15 grams so I had to switch back and forth between sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid. The pregnancy progressed perfectly. I never experienced any complications and my symptoms were very minor. With my other three pregnancies I experienced many complications from group b strep, preeclampsia, migraines, excessive swelling and premature rupture of membranes twice. I obviously was not in very good health with these pregnancies. With Indie I experienced not even the slightest swelling. Along with 15 grams of vitamin c i also took a prenatal vitamin, omega 3, vitamin B 50 complex, and regular epsom salt baths along with magnesium oil. My diet was mainly organic but not always perfect.
I experienced slow unnoticeable progression of my cervix towards the end of pregnancy. I was dilated to a 4.5 and 80% effaced for a couple of weeks. My uterus contracted regularly, never painful though. I believe this contributed to the speedy delivery I experienced. On the night of March 24th, 2016 I began experiencing somewhat uncomfortable contractions that were regular. I had already been to labor and delivery a couple of times with painless but consistent contractions. So I wanted to be sure I was in true labor before we went to the hospital this time. When the contractions did not go away I made the decision to head to the hospital. As I was monitored between 12-2am my contractions were not painful but strong. I really thought they were going to send me home. But when they checked my cervix I was 5 cm and fully effaced at 38.3 weeks, they decided to keep me and transfer me to a birthing room. When we got there my contractions started to get painful and I had to breathe through them.
I only experienced a handful of painful contractions when finally I felt this weird sensation to push. My water exploded and the pain increased dramatically so I called the nurses for help. The urge to push was unbearable and I allowed my body to do so. The nurses walked in and checked me and I was 10 cm dilated. My water broke at ? cm dilated! I believe the vitamin c is to thank for my strong amniotic sac, which cushioned the contractions easing the pain. Within 6 pushes at 3:35 am on March 25th, 2016 baby Indie was born into the world with a beautiful pink complexion, strong lungs, fully alert and looking around. The umbilical cord was left alone to pulse. I declined all vaccinations, the eye ointment, and the vitamin k shot.
Indie was a very different baby compared to my others. She seemed very strong and alert. Her latch was incredible and the pediatrician remarked that it was "a very mature latch." She nursed frequently from the moment she was born within every hour to two hours. Indie was born at 7 pounds and lost only one ounce of her birth weight! She had zero jaundice or complications and is in perfect health. The pediatrician commented on her very strong lungs.
My obstetrician commented on how I do not appear to be a woman that just gave birth. Besides my body being very sore I recovered rapidly compared to my other births. Bleeding had been very minimal and there were no tears that needed to heal. Besides the understandable fatigue I feel very good. My milk came in on Saturday evening close to 48 hours after birth and breastfeeding has gone exceptionally well. I have since increased my vitamin c intake to increase the levels in my breast milk so that Indie is getting what she needs.
From all that I have read about pregnancy and birth from Dr. Klenner, I truly believe vitamin c can have a phenomenal impact on mothers and babies.
It is almost a year and a half later and Indie is by far the easiest child of my four. She is very intelligent and hit milestones before my others did. I cannot say that she never gets sick. In fact, this winter was very difficult and all of my children became ill several times. As a result of an ear drum rupture from strep throat, Indie developed bells palsy which was resolved in less than a month. As you can see her face is back to normal and perfect. She is very healthy and does not experience rashes of allergies. She has a peaceful temperament and sleeps well. I have not missed a single night of sleep since she has been born.
I am still currently breastfeeding and supplementing her with vitamin c. I also take high doses of niacinamide, vitamin b3.
